This spectacular classic from the 80’s was filmed in many parts of Oregon, from Astoria to Indian Beach. I can safely say I speak for many people everywhere who share The Goonies as one of their favorite childhood movies. 1941 may not have been a great movie, although this was interesting as the spot around midtown at the time had not been developed. You may not have known in the opening scene of the 1979 John Belushi flick 1941 was actually filmed in Cannon Beach as well. You will find 8 miles of trails running along the coast, often bringing out to vistas over looking the beach with 200 foot cliffs, old growth forest, etc. Surfing is very popular at Indian Beach, and is also home to wildlife such as deer, elk and eagles. Indian Beach, which is part of Ecola Park is just north of the town of Cannon Beach on the Northern Oregon coast. Maybe the original film would feel the same way, if I actually went back and watched it again, but I did love it when I was a kid. The jokes are painful to watch at times, and the whole movie just seems pointless. The film is adequately directed (for what it is), and decently acted, but it's not funny. The modern, and very politically correct, school environment presents a huge challenge for Reed (and his old school ways). Due to the fact that the students there already know who Sanders is, from previously being interviewed by him, Reed must pose as a kindergarten teacher. The two must infiltrate a kindergarten class, on a new assignment, in order to find an important flash drive. Agent Sanders (Bellamy) is his more rational, and by the book, partner. Agent Reed (Lundgren) is a very conservative, and dedicated (but slightly crazy), FBI agent. The film is severely disappointing, if you're a fan of the original (or good movies in general). The movie costars Bill Bellamy, Darla Taylor, Fiona Vroom and Aleks Paunovic. Steinberg (who also wrote other B-comedy flicks, like 'SLACKERS' and 'AMERICAN PIE PRESENTS BOOK OF LOVE').
